Prajina, I think I thought my nessage didn't go through because it didn't show up anywhere I knew to look, so I probably sent you another one, and yes, you eid answer, thank you. I'm thinking about it, although at the moment I'm not much good at walking having just had my hip replaced. Thank you, yes, you did answer.
WOW thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been so fascinated with ayahuasca and read a few other accounts but nothing like this. It just sounds like an amazing path and experience. I look forward to reading more!
“Never trust a fart” really took me back to my ayahuasca retreat 🫠 This is such a beautiful and meaningful account — I love hearing your story and more about the Shipibo (I did mine with the Kitchwa in Ecuador, but the rituals sound the same). Mine was over a year ago and I’m still not sure if I can say it “changed” me, but I’m thankful for the experience and perspective nonetheless.
Prajna- i am basically blown away by this essay.. your life , your extraordinary journey , and wisdom. I couldn’t stop reading. Your path is a singular one , and sharing it with us through your words is such a gift. I’m fascinated and awed!!
Dear Prajna, so beautifully written. What an incredible journey. Thank you for sharing your depth , heart and realness. All very palpable so happy you are in their lineage. Did a lot of journeys. Not in Peru. Was also life changing for me. I can feel you went really into the soul of Ayahusaka and the lineage. Warmly, Marlies
Hi Marlies, Thank you so much for your comment. If you remember, we were in a sitting together a long time ago. Thank you for reading. Are you using Substakc? As a writer i bet you would like it. Much love to you. I miss you around here.
I like that there are other pathways to healing plant medicine than going into the Peruvian outback. That would be hard in my power wheelchair.
I am doing a lot of healing work with my multiple sclerosis, and I’m gaining strength. The best way to heal is through creating. Words, quilts, food, life. Every moment is a conscious choice.
Thank you for your insight--and for not taking undue credit for another culture’s contributions.
Thank you Fran. My twins also travel by wheelchair. One of my twins has more limitations than the other and traveling to the jungle is out of the question. But the other decided she wanted to come with me. The Shipibos carried her in a hammock-like bed through the rough parts. I am aware they carried others who were unable to make the trek. I am not suggesting you try or that anyone should take this path. I am expressing another powerful and generous aspect of these people. I agree life offers many avenues for healing. I am glad you have found yours!
Also, a friend of mine traveled to Peru and visited the Shipibo. Among the mementos he brought home from his 2004 trip were textiles woven and/or embroidered by the Shipibo women.
I knew those patterns, deep in my being. I think they are in the collective memory of women around the world and throughout history. Maybe men intuit them as well, but women are the traditional workers of textiles.
🌱Thank you Prajna, for sharing your experience with us and the people you took to Peru!
Recently a friend surprised me with a gift of the book 📕 COSMIS SERPENT by Jeremy Narby.
It is my favorite!!
"The Cosmic Serpent offers intriguing connections to a knowledge road less taken-that of indigenous hallucinogenic drug use--and how this road may connect in the future with that of molecular biology."
-Dorion Sagan and Lynn Margulis, authors of What Is Life?
So incredible to hear about this incredible spiritual journey that you have been on Prajna, and how you have been called into ushering others into this world, despite the hardships you were facing at home. I would love to hear you daughters account of her experience one day. I wonder what such an awakening will open up for her as she enters her adult years. If anyone has been curious or called to drinking the 'Dark Brew' - this post is for you!
Oh! I love knowing this about you and your work...and "never trust a fart" had me roaring with laughter (at myself). Learning that particular lesson, day by day! I'm so interested in these practices.
I'll bet! I doubt I could ever do an ayahuasca ritual. I detest vomiting. I've never been drunk and I barely drink mostly because I've wanted to avoid that possibility forever!
In the early days, medicine men and women drink, the participant doesn’t drink. You can be in the space and receive great benefit from the spirits of the plants. There are many ways. Like many ways to write and we all get us exactly - in time - in time
That’s a wonderful insight. I have some of those fabrics.
Where do you live?
By now, at eighty-two, I feel pretty whole, but this is so different from anything I have known or have felt that it tempts me.
Hi Abby!
Wow, she is here! Thank you
Did I respond? If. not, I am always happy to connect with you. This is the most powerful thing I have ever done—follow the urge…

Take your time. We will find a way if it is something that you’re called to do.

Thank you Ms. Jamie. I have many tales to tell after all of these years training in this profound healthcare system. Such an honor.
My essay called Welcomed to The Cosmic Hospital is another good one.
Cheers.

We are all borrowers on this Earth.

I am astonished what you and your children accomplished. Even more the kindness and caring of the Shipibos. Knowing these things has changed me.
Me too
So kind
It’s painful to see how many of them are taken advantage of.

LOL. Yes, wonderful. I will write more, I have boat loads and buckets (that I flushed) HA!

That's great to know. I'm very interested in psychedelics. It would be fun to talk to you about it. xoxo
Yes, I feel that happening.
